Owner and Creative Director Deitra Butler has a passion for flowers that first began while helping her grandmother in the garden as a little girl. Her passion ignited when she moved to California and began studying couture floral design with one of the finest European-trained designers in Los Angeles. Deitra's love for color, texture, form and all things beautiful eventually led to a degree in Interior Design. After college, she worked as an interior designer for six years, all the while designing flowers for parties and weddings on the side. She finally realized that this was her true passion. After 15 years in the floral business, Deitra launched LUSH, a couture floral design company.

Deitra's work is greatly influenced by the principles of design – unity, variety, balance, rhythm, emphasis, proportion and scale – and the elements of design – line, space, shape, form, color, texture and light. Deitra also earned a minor degree in lighting design while in college, enabling her to design in ways that take best advantage of light, utilizing it in interesting ways.
